6/21/2023 EnchantaVaughn Approved Behavior: At the beginning of the session, Ashiyah expressed how she feels overwhelmed at times. Ashiyah expresses that she misses having the attention to herself and wish she had her own room to do more girl stuff. Ashiyah was not happy with the way her mom expressed her recent behaviors and became very silent and distant ( shut down emotionally). Behavior: Ashiyah was apologetic for the way that she responded to what her mother was saying about her past behaviors and stated she wanted to fix any problem she had. Ashiyah shared that she will work on building a better relationship with her mother, if her mom would let her do more for herself even if that means it takes her longer to do so. Mother shared that she allows Ashiyah to do more than she should be allowed to do, especially at her age. Ashiyah disagreed at these statements and proceeded to ask for more space in the home. Session held for continued poor parent-child relationships. Intervention: QMHP-C commended Ashiyah on utilizing creative strategies to increase her understanding of feelings and emotions. QMHP-C processed Ashiyah feelings and offered choices of what to do when faced with conflict or challenged in the home. QMHP-C will assist with reducing anger-provoking situations through self-talk and role play scenarios in order to prevent escalation and dealing with anger assertively. QMHP-C will continue to assist Ashiyah with managing anger and frustration by reviewing and role-playing effective coping skills. Intervention: QMHP-C practiced calming techniques with Ashiyah that can be used in moments of high stress and anxiety. QMHP-C educated Ashiyah about using good manners at home and offering alternative ways to model appropriate language that Ashiyah should use to ask for things or to get someone’s attention. QMHP-C modeled proper positive behavioral expectations for the Ashiyah to encourage additional layers of support and understanding of rules and expectations. QMHP-C will monitor effects of coping practices daily and report progress. Response: Ashiyah communicated that she felt safe and comfortable talking to the in-home counselor. Both Ashiyah and guardian provided feedback, actively participated, and engaged with QMHP-C. Ashiyah was slightly hyperactive and required one on one attention to reduce symptoms. Ashiyah was provided with redirection for displaying emotional distress to minor irritants. Ashiyah practiced some of the examples of alternate behaviors (e.g. praying, drawing a picture, saying affirmations, and repeating positive “I-statements”). Response: Ashiyah was receptive and open to the interventions, as she was attentive and focused on the information and activities that were being processed without any difficulties. Ashiyah demonstrates problem solving by staying calm and using her senses. Ashiyah displays good social behavior, as observed and supported by QMHP-C. Ashiyah is reported building healthy relationships in the home. Mom enjoyed seeing Ashiyah do the right thing for once. Mom and Ashiyah promised to practice techniques and review and complete the in-home assignment.
